Forgetful Interfaces

February 8, 2008 - 11:41 — Maria Laura Mendez-marten

[ workshop by Mark Wubben ]
free memory!
It seams that we have spent so many time thinking about how to storage.
Today we ask ourselves if we should storage everything we have or not
...delete? transfer? filter?
The evenness of our data files let a trace of our life and allows us to find all kind of information by the different applications ( myspace, del.icio.us, flicker, msn...) .
But the more we stock, the more we forget.
Once we have decided to keep a file, how can we decide which files should stay or not?
should the file exist for ever? Or should it disappear with time?
Maybe the real question is: why do we like to keep them all? On the web, we have the possibility to erase everything and to make things disappear. Maybe we are afraid of disappearing as soon as the new medias evolve.
Unfortunately we have not come out with any specific answer but many more questions, like the famous boundary between private and public, personal and professional...
